Practising Muslims 'will outnumber Christians by 2035'

According to research published today by think-tank Christian Research, practicing British Muslims will outnumber practicing Christians by 2035.

Even though Christians outnumber Muslims by more than 20 to one, data indicate that fewer Christians attend church while Muslims practice their faith more religiously.

The Church of England discredited the research, saying it is “flawed and dangerously misleading.”

According to CNA the Vacitan reports, Muslims already outnumber Catholics.

**Another number game from the religion of peace.

**I posted awhile back about Muslim clerics admitting that they are losing about 6 million Muslims to Christianity every year. Most of the converts are from sub-Saharan Africa. Even Russian Muslims are also jumping ship like the ship’s on fire.
Muslims Leaving Islam in Droves

**Pope Benedict’s choice to publicly baptize the most prominent Muslim in Italy, Egyptian-born Magdi Allam, highlights a quiet worldwide exodus from Islam. In recent years, millions have moved on. With this high-profile action, Pope Benedict demonstratively blesses this massive conversion from the highest levels of the Church.

Interviewed by al-Jazeera in 2006, Ahmad al-Qataani, leader of the Companions Lighthouse for the Science of Islamic Law in Libya, explains the decline:
Allam’s public baptism came just ten days after the body of Catholic Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho of Mosul, Iraq, was found in a shallow grave after being kidnapped by al-Qaeda February 29. The ceremony came just three days after an al-Qaeda tape threatening the pope and condemning cartoons of Mohammed. Muslims who convert to other religions or abandon religion entirely are subject to a standing order of death for apostasy. The baptism of Allam is an act of defiance in the face of Islamic threats.…lam-in-droves/

There has also been concern over fact that many young people in Iran have abandoned Islam because they’re tired of the many restrictions imposed by the faith.

According to unofficial sources, in the past five years, one million Iranians, particularly young people and women, have abandoned Islam and joined Evangelical churches.

This phenomenon has surprised even the missionaries who carry out their activities in secret in Iran.

An Evangelical priest and former Muslim in Iran told Adnkronos International (AKI) that the conversions were “interesting, enthusiastic but very dangerous”.

“The high number of conversions is the reason that the government has decided to make the repression of Christians official with this new law,” said the priest on condition of anonymity.

“Often we get to know about a new community that has been formed, after a lot of time, given that the people gather in homes to pray and often with rituals that they invent without any real spiritual guide,” he told AKI.

“We find ourselves facing what is more than a conversion to the Christian faith,” he said. “It’s a mass exodus from Islam.”

This short but very good article, with numbers to back it up, blows the whole “Islam is growing” myth out of the water

This is an odd story to find here.

Usually, we get standard American rightist fodder: ‘Muslim ate my hamster’, ‘Muslims breeding for victory’, ‘Muslims to conquer Venezuela by 2010’ or whatever.

Here we have a story suggesting that, on current trends, the irreligious nature of Brits will have gotten so bad that practicing Muslims will outnumber practicing Christians (nearly thirty years from now) even though there will be less than 2 million of them (out of a 60-odd million population). To anybody who knows the UK and Brits, the main surprise would likely be that enough of them currently practicing that the Sikhs don’t outnumber them, never mind the Hindus and Muslims.

Why is it an odd story? Well, you see, according to American rightist tradition, 100 million, 200 million or 300 million would be more appropriate figures for the Muslim population of England by next year, never mind decades from now!

What is going on?
