Prayer for a Maronite Priest

#1

We know of a Maronite priest who is being removed from the parish that he originated and build. We don’t understand it all for we don’t belong to that parish, but we have a mutual friend that knows the priest very well and he tells her what is going on. This is what we know. His Bishop is Bishop Gregory in Brooklyn and he has ordered this priest to be replaced by another who he owed a favor to. This other priest wants out of the cold weather of New York and to come down to Florida. Anyway, the Bishop is not giving this priest here in Florida another job or parish. He will have no place to stay or payroll. He celebrated his last Mass today at 10:00am and told his parishioners that he is obedient to his Bishop but that he is going to appeal the decision to the Pope. He has rich parishioners that are paying for a canon lawyer. They are also taking this priest into their homes. He can’t celebrate Mass or do any of his priestly duties. His bishop won’t allow it. We don’t know why. Our Bishop has a job for him already at a local parish and has talked to his Bishop in NY,but this Bishop has to release him from the Maronite Rite so that he can officially join the Roman Rite, but Bishop Gregory won’t do this either. So our Bishop can’t give him a job either. That is why this priest is appealing the decision. I have known this priest for 10 years and he is a holy priest and loves his parish. He built the new church and even designed the Tabernacle himself. It is quite unique with the monstrance located inside the Tabernacle. He doesn’t deserve this, but is accepting it all as God’s will for now, but he does want to be a priest so he is appealing the decision.

Please pray for this priest and that the Pope will make this Bishop at least release him of the Maronite Rite so that he can join the Roman Rite and work as a priest. His heart is in the Maronite Rite, but he really wants to just be a priest. His name is Fr. George.

God bless you all.

Wow. I am so sorry to hear of the troubles that this priest is going through. I will pray for him.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. :crossrc:

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen. :crossrc:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. :crossrc:

Lord, bless Fr. George with peace and comfort through this suffering he must undergo. May he be able to serve as a priest in the Roman rite in a diocese as soon as possible. May he be patient as he waits to hear from Rome and may he offer up all his sufferings for souls, so that none of his time away from serving You and your people in the Mass and confessional will be wasted. May he grow even more holy through this painful suffering he is enduring. Bless him, Lord, and make him a saint, if he isn’t already one. May his life be a living Gospel - for the edification of souls and the for their conversion. Amen.
