Praying for you to overcome your addiction …

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Lord, may Weakspirit33 gain a strong spirit through receiving you regularly in the sacraments and by blocking access to all bad web sites - out of love and respect for you. He believes in heaven and hell and doesn’t want to end up in hell, so please help him be resolved to fight against his addiction. May he receive the Eucharist every day and go to the Sacrament of Confession whenever necessary. Help him to meet with a good priest for spiritual direction and help him deepen his prayer life. The only way he can break from his addiction is by loving you more and centering his life on you. May he devote all his time and efforts to getting closer to you and to knowing and serving you more. He needs help. Help him meet with a good counselor and support group for assistance. He can’t go through this alone. He needs others to help strengthen him, and mostly you and prayer for his main source of healing and strength. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Amen.

Lord help my friend in Christ to get victory in this area…Guide him to deliverance if needed…Lord speak to his heart about areas in his life he needs to change…Help him to bring every thought in obedience to you…Guard him fro the snare of the enemy…I ask all this in the name of Jesus…Amen

Ps I was horrendously addicted to porn from magazines back in my teens and the internet made it worse…Damaging to marriage…I was finally set free after going to a deliverance meeting…I have been porn free for 7 years…

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou oh prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Naturally, I would suggest that whenever you may feel an urge to get back online “even for a little while” even if you feel as though you may not look at this damaging material, this is the time for prayer and reflection. In that moment where you begin to wonder if you should go back and look, this is the moment to go for a walk and listen to the voice within. Moreover, don’t pretend that you can solve this simply by willpower. Addiction is a painful thing precisely because we work against ourselves. Our own weaknesses undermine our resolve, and we find ourselves making choices which can hurt us in the long run.
Examine the feelings you may have whenever you feel weak and ask yourself what is it that is causing you to feel so compelled to internet pornography. This stress, this cause is what you must give up to the Lord, and trust in his grace to help you with. If it gets worse, then go seek help. There are groups and there are people you could trust to provide further assistance.
