Prayer for loss of 2 priests of this Diocese today

diocese of Brownsville lost two priests this weekend Fr. O’Malley, a retired priest who has been failing, and a younger priest Fr. Garcia who died suddenly in his residence. Pray that Christ receives his servants into his kingdom, and for their surviving families. Pray also that God will send workers to replace them in the vineyard.

Lord, have mercy. :signofcross:

Prayers to all those touched and served by these men of God.

A Prayer for Priests by: John Cardinal O’Connor

Lord Jesus, we your people pray to You for our priests. You have given them to us for OUR needs. We pray for them in THEIR needs.

We know that You have made them priests in the likeness of your own priesthood. You have consecrated them, set them aside, annointed them, filled them with the Holy Spirit, appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister, to console, to forgive, and to feed us with Your Body and Blood.

Yet we know, too, that they are one with us and share our human weaknesses. We know too that they are tempted to sin and discouragement as are we, needing to be ministered to, as do we, to be consoled and forgiven, as do we. Indeed, we thank You for choosing them from among us, so that they understand us as we understand them, suffer with us and rejoice with us, worry with us and trust with us, share our beings, our lives, our faith.

We ask that You give them this day the gift You gave Your chosen ones on the way to Emmaus: Your presence in their hearts, Your holiness in their souls, Your joy in their spirits. And let them see You face to face in the breaking of the Eucharistic bread.

We pray to You, O Lord, through Mary the mother of all priests, for Your priests and for ours. Amen.

Prayer for a deceased Priest

O God, Thou didst raise Thy servant, N., Fr. O’ Malley and Fr. Garcia
to the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ,
according to the Order of Melchisedech,
giving him the sublime power
to offer the Eternal Sacrifice,
to bring the Body and Blood of Thy Son Jesus Christ down upon the altar,
and to absolve the sins of men in Thine own Holy Name.
We beseech Thee to reward his faithfulness
and to forget his faults,
admitting him speedily into Thy Holy Presence,
there to enjoy forever the recompense of his labours.
This we ask through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord.

St. John Marie Vianney, Patron Saint of Priests please pray for Fr. O’Malley and Fr. Garcia for them, their families, friends, Parishioners, and so forth. Pray also for “new” Priests. Amen.

Also asking for the intercession of Fr. Nelson Baker, Fr. Thomas Byles, Fr. Augustine Tolton, and all God’s Holy men and women. Amen.

May Our Lord welcome the souls of His faithful shepards into
the Community of Saints.

May the souls of all the faithful departed
through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women and
blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Our Father Who Art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name
Thy Kingdom Come
Thy Will Be Done
On Earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
Amen
:highprayer:

Eternal rest grant unto Father O’Malley and Father Garcia, O Lord. And let perpetual
light shine upon them both. May they rest rest in peace.
Amen.

Lord, have mercy on the souls of your two servants, and grant them both a place of eternal rest in heaven with you. Send your Holy Spirit to their families to comfort them, and send more laborers in the vineyard to replace these two. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my pryaer.
