Prayer for my husband and fellow troops

#1

Hello prayer warriors,

Please pray for my husband while he is in Iraq, as well as for his fellow troops.

I think the baby and I could also use a little prayer too, as we miss him a lot. :sad_yes:

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Psalm 120 (121)
The guardian of the people

I shall lift my eyes to the hills:
where is my help to come from?
My help will come from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip:
he will not doze, your guardian.
Behold, he will not doze or sleep,
the guardian of Israel.

The Lord is your guardian, the Lord is your shade;
he is at your right hand.
By day the sun will not strike you;
nor the moon by night.

The Lord will guard you from all harm;
the Lord will guard your life.
The Lord will guard your coming and your going
both now and for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus
Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was
conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the
Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell; the third day He
rose again from the dead; He ascended
into heaven, is seated at the right hand of
God the Father Almighty; from thence He
shall come to judge the living and the
dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the
Holy Catholic Church, the communion of
Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the
resurrection of the body, and life
everlasting. Amen.

Almost 30 years ago, I lived in a Christian Community. We had a company of Tree-Planters and sponsored a successful Christian Rock-Band, among other things…

It always seemed as if we were “on the edge”, so we sang the KJV of Psalm 121:

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD,
Which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:
He that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall
neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is thy keeper:
the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day,
nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil:
He shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out
and thy coming in from this time forth,
and even for evermore.
from this time forth,
and even for evermore.
**
Psalm 121 KJV**

Here are some prayers from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer (Page 41) you can say and you can have them say for themselves…

In Time of War and Tumults.

O ALMIGHTY God, the Supreme Governor of all things, whose power no creature is able to resist, to whom it belongeth justly to punish sinners, and to be merciful to those who truly repent; Save and deliver us, we humbly beseech thee, from the hands of our enemies; that we being armed with thy defence, may be preserved evermore from all perils, to glorify thee, who art the only giver of all victory; through the merits of thy only Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who livest and reignest with the and the Holy Spirit, One God, World without end. *Amen.

O LORD God of Hosts, stretch forth we pray thee, thine almighty arm to strengthen and protect the soldiers of our country. Support them in the day of battle, and in the time of peace, keep them safe from all evil; endue them with all courage and loyalty; and grant that in all things, they may srerve without reproach; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I can type more, but I’ll go over my character limit - May God protect all of our soldiers who are fighting our nation’s battles across this ever shrinking world.

I will pray for him and the others. My son returns to Iraq in about 2 weeks. He is with a flight crew so I am always asking Our Lady of Loreto to protect him and the crew. I have an Armed Forces Catholic Prayer Book which has prayers for all branches.

God bless all our troops!!:signofcross:

Little Katie,

You and your family are in my prayers! It really is difficult for a new wife and mother to be separated from her husband! May you know the strength of our Lord now and always!
