Prayer for Religious

#1

I could use some help praying for my vocation, as I am discerning a call to religious life as a sister. In particular, I am anxious about finding the right order which will allow me to fully realize the potential God has bestowed on me.

I would also like to request prayers for the Little Sisters of the Poor. Even if they are not the right order for me, they are so very special. Their foundress was canonized last month, St. Jeanne Jugan!

Thanks!

Today is the Feast Day of St. Charles Borromeo.

Praying with the words of a sermon from St. Charles, from today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

"Would you like me to teach you how to grow from virtue to virtue and how, if you are already recollected at prayer, you can be even more attentive next time, and so give God more pleasing worship? Listen, and I will tell you. If a tiny spark of God’s love already burns within you, do not expose it to the wind, for it may get blown out. Keep the stove tightly shut so that it will not lose its heat and grow cold. In other words, avoid distractions as well as you can. Stay quiet with God. Do not spend your time in useless chatter.

"If teaching and preaching is your job, then study diligently and apply yourself to whatever is necessary for doing the job well. Be sure that you first preach by the way you live. If you do not, people will notice that you say one thing, but live otherwise, and your words will bring only cynical laughter and a derisive shake of the head.

“Are you in charge of a parish? If so, do not neglect the parish of your own soul, do not give yourself to others so completely that you have nothing left for yourself. You have to be mindful of your people without becoming forgetful of yourself.”

“My brothers, you must realise that for us churchmen nothing is more necessary than meditation. We must meditate before, during and after everything we do. The prophet says: I will pray, and then I will understand.”

St. Charles of Borromeo, pray for us. Praying for your vocation, elly21!

:blessyou:

O Lord, Holy Father, omnipotent and eternal God, I give You thanks and I bless Your holy name. I know I’m a poor miserable sinner but hear a cause that is just, pay heed to my cry, turn your ear to my prayer, no deceit is on my lips. Amen

For your intentions

Continued prayers……

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Lord Jesus, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for help. Amen

“If God brings it to you- God will bring you through it.”

Lord, I pray that you help Elly21 discern her vocation with a good spiritual director in her area who can help her know where she will best serve you as a religious. The Little Sisters of the Poor is a very, very good order for Elly21 to consider a life with, if she has an attraction to them. Please help her correspond with and visit with one of their superiors so she can further discern a possible vocation to their order. Whatever order she decides on, may she be blessed with a life of holy love and service of you and the her brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Amen.

Dear God who loved Elly into existence, You know who she really is in You. Please make her fully that person, in the life that will most help her to be so, and to give to others in the unique way intended for her.

Praying for Elly’s vocation and the Little Sisters of the Poor …

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit Of Thy Womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen
