Prayer for those who persecute the church

#1

We have faith that those who remain faithful to God and to the Church shall have everlasting life, though this life my be full of sorrows.

Let us pray for those who are persecuting the Church and the clergy, those whose hate blinds them, yet they may be ignorant in what they do.

We ask please, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bred and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

This is a beautiful prayer, but one that is so difficult to put to heart. Let me add: Lord, Grant us the grace to be able to put this prayer not only in words but also in our dealings with our persecutors.

When I pray the Our Father, among other things, I pause when I pray "as we forgive those who tresspass against us" That's hard.

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the Blessed Fruit of thy womb Jesus. OClement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us O Holy Mother of God,
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

Lord have mercy,
Christ have mercy,
Lord have mercy.
