Prayer request, Catholic perinatologist, etc

#1

I will try not to make this a long thread.

Please pray for us. On Wednesday, our son, WIlliam David Gregory was born, baptized, and died. His funeral was on Saturday. We also have an almost 9 month old son, Thomas. William was born around 26 weeks gestation, so his lungs were not ready to help him breathe. Paramedics did what they could, but William did not endure this world for very long.

That said, we have gone through much grief and anguish not only because our precious little boy has died, but because of the policies and procedures that mandated his death be investigated by the police and my health complications. By the way, the OBGYN at the Catholic hospital where we went recommended that we contracept to avoid ‘mistakes like this one’.

We are now looking for a good Catholic pro-life perinatologist or endocrinologist who supports having children as naturally as possibly, without the genetic counseling, etc. Does anyone know where we could find such a doctor in the Baltimore/Washington area?

Here is a place where you can get a list of pro-life ob/gyns in your area. Perhaps they can help you:

I am SO SORRY for your loss.

What peace to know that he was baptized and is now a little saint in Heaven.

We will pray for you. God bless you all in this very difficult time.

You are in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss and for everything you are going through now.
I am so sorry for the rude comments you received, does she not know that your beautiful child is a Saint in Heaven now?!

I hope you can find the dr. you are looking for! You can contact a local pro life group and ask them too. On this page there are a few pro life dr’s from Maryland, maybe they can help: all.org/article.php?id=10680
Here is a site for prolife physicians. Although they don’t have one from Maryland they may be able to help:

I’m so sorry for your loss and the rudeness you’ve had to endure. I can’t help with your request, but you and your family will be in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that your beautiful baby is in heaven right now. Please accept my prayers on your behalf. I’m sorry I don’t know how to help you with your search for a doctor.

Oh I am so sorry for your loss – I too lost my precious Ian at 27weeks last year – it is hard to believe it’s been that long; feels like just yesterday still. I understand your grief and pain, and while it feels like you’re just caught in some surreal sitcom or television drama, life will someday inch its way back towards normal – I don’t think it will ever reach what I used to consider normal, but it does migrate in that direction again. PLEASE feel free to PM me – I have been there; I know what happens, and I am a living testament to what happens if you don’t deal properly with your grief (I spent much of my summer in the ER with panic attacks, etc. and have been in counseling now for three months, antidepressants for about 7wks – there is help out there, but you need to be willing to reach out to it) – I want to help you, if only to give you what 8mos from now might look like (I’m not the picture of mental health, but if you told me I’d feel pretty normal again, I would not have believed you, and it helped me greatly to see another woman who’d been thru what I was going thru – she seemed pretty normal for only 10mos later). This is a life changing event – I pray that the Lord brings you peace and also that if you need someone to talk to, you will see me as an ally in your travels

William David Gregory. What a beautiful name.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine losing a child. While I’d rejoice that he was in Heaven - a perfect little soul resting in the arms of Jesus, I’d be so sad and miss him so much. Please know that I’ll remember your family in my prayers.

I hope you are able to find the health professionals you are looking for. I can’t believe that ANYONE would consider your sweet little Saint “a mistake.” Shame on them!

May William David Gregory someday greet you in heaven with loving open arms.

I am so sorry to hear about this tragedy. Thank you for sharing William David Gregory with us–the newest little Saint in heaven who we can all call on for intercession now. I know I am going to be putting him to work interceding for my unborn child because last week I was also 26 weeks pregnant. Our family will be praying for yours, for healing and for a wonderful doctor!

My prayers go out to you. My daughter was stillborn on this past Mother’s Day. I know how hard it is. It gets better and the relationship with William will grow. My daughter is my little prayer partner. I feel so honored to be her Mother. She had Downs and by societies standards was less than perfect. By God’s standard, she was so perfect that she went directly to heaven to love him and serve him perfectly. She is my Mother’s Day Gift to the Blessed Virgin Mary. I asked Mary to Rock her and love her as her own. I unite my sorrows with Mary and for months would sing “Holy Mary peirce me through…” Your sons life has incredible meaning in the eyes of God. He is a gift. You already have a child waiting in heaven praying for you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I too lost a premie. He would be 14 now. My two subsequent children (girls) know they have a brother in heaven and he is so much a part of our family even though they never knew him.

I know know about your doctor question, but the organization that helped me tremendously was SHARE
www.nationalshareoffice.com. It was started by a nun. I continue to do outreach and am the contact person for our local chapter. They have online support, as well as can lead you to local support. They might be able to point you to a doctor. I still pull out my old issues of newsletters when I need a good cry.
Feel free to PM me.

May the peace of Christ be with now. May you feel the warmth and love of Mary’s mantle wrapped around you. Our prayers are with you.

My prayers are with you and your family as you grieve the loss of your son. I too lost a child who was multiply handicapped but I got to hold her and play with her until God took her at the age of 2 1/2. She is now my personal Saint in heaven!

Praise God for the wonderful Paramedics who worked with you. May God change the heart of your OB or at the very least give her a better Bed Side manner!

Hi captaincatholic,
We met at MooCowSteph’s. I’m so so sorry for the pain you must be feeling, and for the disheartening response you got from the OB.
The doctor I go to in Catonsville is NFP only, Damian Birchess is listed at www.omsoul.com, but his associate Victoria Steiner-Larsen is the only one who is accepting new patients. I’ve seen both of them. They’re not an OB/Gyn, but they may have references. Tepeyac is also a good idea, (I think StratusRose goes there), but they aren’t accepting new patients. Perhaps either of those two places can give you a better lead for an OB who won’t recommend contraception.
PM me if you’d like.
Prayers for all four of you!

A link to NFP-only professionals in our area. No OB/Gyns or endocrinologists or perinatologists, but I think there is one retired OB nurse.

And…
A listing of Maryland members of AAPLOG, which *I think *is mostly against contraception from an article on their site. Dr. Hilgers from PPVI is closely associated with them. aaplog.org/collition is where you can read the article about contraceptives being abortifacient. Very much leads me to believe any members are against contraception, or would at least respect your decision not to use it.
