Prayers and Devotions for vocational discernment

#1

Does anyone know of some good prayers for one’s personal vocation, prefferably for a vocation to the priesthood?

Also, are there any devotions that are for vocational discernment? Any Saints I should prayer to for help?

While there many available on the internet, I recently wrote to the Vocationist Fathers. They are more than willing to send you all kinds of literature including prayers and meditations.

Actually most of what I am doing revolves around practising my Latin, and saying the Traditional Breviary.

But well I asked for some reading material from my SD so, well I have that to go through as well.

St John Marie Vianney is the Patron of Diocesan Priest and Parish Priest. However, if one is still open to Religious Institutes then the founder(s) come(s) in also. Yet for any Vocation, a strong Marian devotion is very important.

St. John Vianney, the Patron or Founder of a Religious Order are great.

But you can pray to Jesus anytime, for anything.

God’s Speed to you, brother

Well Catholics always have an easier time storming heaven with Prayer then our seperated brethren. We have Ecclesia Militans, Ecclesia Penitens and Ecclesia Triumphans

Spend time before the Blessed Sacrament.

I pray daily for my vocational direction. I feel I am being called to the priesthood, but I humbly step aside to God’s will. I think instead of praying to become a priest, one should entertain the idea of praying for your vocation in life. If God wishes you to be a priest, then may God’s will be done. I pray this little prayer everyday, it helps me, and I hope it helps you. It is from the Manual of Prayers. May God guide you to whatever your calling may be.
With Love.

A Prayer For One’s Vocation in Life

Lord, make me a better person: more considerate towards others, more honest with myself, more faithful to you. Help me find my true vocation in life and grant that through it I may find happiness myself and bring happiness to others. Grant, Lord, that those whom you call to enter the priesthood or religous life may have the generosity to answer your call, so that those that need your help may always find it. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Then I say a rosary.
