Prayers for friends & family to forgive past hurts

#1

*Lord, please help those who are harboring resentment, bitterness, and anger towards friends and/or family members, to feel your peace, joy and love like never before. Please help my husband’s brothers to end their 10 year long silence, and stop allowing their past hurts to come between them. Undo the grudge that has kept them apart for so long. The situation looks hopeless, but with You, all things are possible.

I pray for everyone here who might be unwilling to forgive a past hurt from someone in your life. Help those who struggle to forgive, Lord, to surrender their hurts to You, for You make everything new.

In Jesus’ name, we pray…amen. :crossrc:*

Praying for your intentions.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Praying twice over, for each brother
Forgiveness
How to ask forgiveness–
when I should have understood in gentle, forgiving silence?
Too much said instead, forfeiting trust, fracturing relationship,
betraying kindnesses and truths entrusted and shared.

Repentant heart–seeing so much
that could wound another beneath words spoken
or behind misjudgement or inappropriate deed
longs to embrace the other but can find no way.
Too many misapprehensions hold us apart.

I pray for a holy smile to break through
flaming from heart to heart
to consume misunderstanding, sin and pain.
Until then, heart must wait in humble sadness and silence
Am I alone in poignant sense of loss?

I hurt whom I love–I who also am wronged,
because you cannot see how truly I love you.
But Lord, please touch and heal us!
Make us become sacrament of Yourself,
hearts purified, maturing in reciprocal love.

We neither of us intended hurt
Yet we caused each other pain…
My brother, please forgive me.
I forgive you.

*Trishie, what beautiful words. You know, and so true. This ‘feud’ that is now cold silence, started over money…these 2 brothers went into business together, and just things went wrong, and one brother accused the other…so sad. The one brother asked for forgiveness, the other one won’t accept it…I just pray for them to reconcile one day soon. I appreciate your prayers.

This thread is also for anyone who needs to forgive…or knows of a family member or friend who is harboring bitterness and unforgiveness. *

Praying on behalf of your husband’s brothers, but also on behalf od others who need grace for mutual forgiveness.

Blessing and forgiveness

I forgive you, anyone who ever hurts or judges me. Will you forgive me? Will you forgive my faults that annoy you? Will you forgive what I am or what you judge me to be? Will you forgive my kindly meant mistakes?

Whether or not you have sinned against me by malice of by mistake, I ask God’s help to forgive you, as Jesus teaches that in order that in order to be forgiven my sins, I must forgive, even if I must wisely avoid you…but our God, I entreat You to bridge this chasm between us.

In spirit, I kneel to ask forgiveness for good intentions gone awry. Perhaps you will not forgive or perhaps you will never inform me if you do forgive, yet I mean only kindness to others and to you. If I lose your friendship, I still love and pray for you and those with you.

Your judgements of me — as the person, you deem me or the wrong you believe of me—remain until God who loves us can speak some kindness and perhaps even some truth in your heart for me. Beloved God, please speak those words in both our wounded hearts.

“I bless you. I bless your thoughts and feelings. I bless your family, I bless your ventures, and I bless your life.” The power of those words is God’s not mine. I only bless you in God’s name, for He loves you profoundly.

I forgive you, where there are things to forgive even if you never acknowledge them and or do not value me even enough to see them. I place you in God’s care and ask His threefold blessing for you. 1999-05

Amen.

Merciful Father,
We are together on Earth, alone in the universe.
Look at us and help us to love one another.
Teach us to understand each other, just as you understand us.
Make our souls as fresh as the morning.
Make our hearts as innocent as the Lamb.
May we forgive each other, and forget the past,
and may we have peace inside - and in our world.
Today and forever. Amen.

Praying for 3 of my sister in laws who refuse to have anything to do with one of their sisters. Their bitterness is very disturbing to me as in my opinion they should show some forgiveness. They are at an age now when anyone of them could pass away suddenly and it would be sad if they don’t reconcile. I pray for them to show forgiveness and love towards their sister.

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible,
look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us,
that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent,
but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will,
which is love and mercy itself.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners, now
and at the hour of our death. Amen

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits
who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen
