Prayers for Grandpa

My Grandfather passed away yesterday, and he wasn’t Catholic. I imagine he’s quite surprised at some things right now, and I hope he’s not chewing someone out about this strange new place called Purgatory that he’s never heard of.

He was from a fundamentalist church, so I don’t know exactly what that means for his eternal fate. That’s why I’m asking people to keep him in his prayers.

Part of me wonders if he can appreciate the irony. He was the patriarch of a huge family, none of which will be praying for him now–“He’s with Jesus,” after all. But now, this relatively small Catholic enclave within the family is the only group of people praying for him. He was kinder in his later years, but for a while he said nothing while the family attacked my mom.

Dear Montanaman,

I’m sorry for the loss of you grandfather and will say a decade of the Rosary and offer prayers for his soul. Annunciata:)

Praying for your grandpa during my rosary this evening!

Hail Holy Queen. Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry poor banished chidlren of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourningand weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us. And after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb Jesus. O clement, o loving, o sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us, o Holy mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

“O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, Save us from the fire of hell, lead
all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Your mercy.”

God is merciful but He is also just. Have a mass said also in his memory.

Praying for your grandfather. May his soul rest in peace.

O Gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory have mercy on the soul of Thy departed servant. Be not severe in Thy judgement but let some drops of Thy Precious Blood fall upon the devouring flames, and do Thou O merciful Saviour send Thy angels to conduct Thy departed servant to a place of refreshment, light and peace. Amen.

May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. :signofcross:

Prayers for your grandfather…
May The Lord bring all consolation to you, your family and friends…

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.

I will pray for him - I pray daily for the souls in purgatory and especially for those who have no one or few others to pray for them. Rest assured of my prayers for your Grandpa.

I will pray for him also.

Your grandfather now has a whole new family praying for him. I hope he is pleasantly surprised.

May God grant rest and peace to his soul.

Thanks for the prayers, all…
