Prayers for Long-time friend and member

I thought many of you would want to know and to join in praying for our brother, JimR-OCDS. He has been diagnosed with colon cancer and is undergoing tests to determine how advanced the cancer has spread. In your compassion, kindly remember him in your intentions, that God would grant him a full recovery.

Jesus, have mercy on our brother Jim and grant him strength to overcome this problem. Grant wisdom to his physicians to provide the necessary care he will need to become well. May his wife and family be a comfort and support to him in this hour of great need. Amen.

Thank you so much Sirach for letting us know. Jim, you are very much in my prayers!

Blessings In Carmel,

Praying for Jim…

O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God, still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity.

O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, I humbly ask you from the depths of my heart for help in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power.
O show us that you are our Mother.

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.
Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands. Amen

Amen.

Jim’s wife gave us an update on another forum. He will have surgery Thursday where a full biopsy will be made, along with a CT scan. On a positive note, he will have an incision in the abdomen and resectioning of the cancerous area, but nothing else. There is no decision until the scan is done as to follow-up chemo. The family is very appreciative of all your prayers. We can imagine the strain they are under!

:grouphug: Hang in there, Jim!

Thank you Sirach for the update. Jim, heading out of the office now to a quiet spot to pray Evening Prayer which I am offering for you.

Saints of Carmel … pray for us! Saint Peregrine … pray for us!

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the Kingdom
and the Power
and the Glory for ever and ever.
Amen.

Ave Maria, gratia plena,
Dominus tecum,
benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui Iesus.
Sancta Maria mater Dei,
ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen

Thank you all and God Bless you for your prayers.

This is a new experience for me and our Lord Jesus Christ and Mary our Blessed Mother are seeing me through this tough time.

I’m not going through surgery on Thursday, but have my second appointment with the surgeon.

I had CT scan today and they have to make sure the cancer has not spread, but is confined to the polyp in my colon.

Thursday, I’ll should have the date for the surgery which won’t be until the week after next. The surgeon is on vacation next week, and he wants to be around for all post-ops for his patients. I agree!

Anyway, God Bless and all the prayers are welcome!

Centered In Christ
Jim

Jim, you and your family are in my prayers.

Jim, prayers have been sent up since the break of the news. My prayers will continue.

Praying for you!

Thanks for all the prayers, it’s appreciated!

Here’s the latest I know after visiting with the surgeon today.

Blood work shows no cancer markers. This is good, but not necessarily conclusive.

However, the scan was fine…no signs of cancer IN the neighboring organs …thank God!

Surgery will be on July 12 ~ I can expect to be in the hospital @ 5-7 days

The surgeon will:

 1. remove and biopsy/stage the tumor
 2. biopsy nearby lymph nodes
 3. check the surface of the liver etc to be sure there is no sign of cancer starting; if anything is found he will biopsy it.

*If the neighboring organs and lymph nodes are clear of cancer, than I will be declared ‘surgically cured’.

So, I have the 4th to relax and watch the fire works celebrations, oink out and perhaps have a glass of wine or two.

God Bless All

Jim

I second this.
Many Blessings for you with many, many prayers.

Sounds to me like the best possible prognosis associated with the word cancer. Happy for you. Take care and take that breath now.

Prayers for you Jim and your family
