Prayers for those who are suspicious of Catholicism

I just recently saw a website which was like this, except a “reformed Christian” forum. They were discussing Matt Maher and how they were shocked at his song “Lord I Need You” because “it doesn’t sound like Catholic doctrine.” They were also shocked that he was Roman Catholic, because, I’m guessing, his music touched them and they saw truth in his lyrics.

I feel SO bad, because I really don’t think many of our non-Catholic brothers and sisters actually KNOW what Catholic doctrine is, or why there are doctrines, and how they are Biblical. I want to reach out to them, but I’m afraid they’ll be hostile. Please, let’s pray.

“There are not over a 100 people in the U.S. that hate the Catholic Church, there are millions however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church — which is, of course, quite a different thing.” —Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Praying for them.

Love the quote by Archbishop Sheen - he was an awesome teacher.

You know, it’s absolutely wonderful that Matt Maher is a Catholic and has some great inspiring songs. It is very unfortunate that people have so many misconceptions about some of the doctrines but we do have differences and we sometimes are judgmental on both sides.

Don’t be afraid of the hostility (easier said and done) but just speak in love towards those who are disrespectful of your faith. Share your faith with love and respect and hopefully, they will return that to you. It may be, after this, that you will not be able to talk about it but live it in the joy of the Lord so that they can see how much it means to you.

I hope I didn’t step out of my boundaries with my advice. God bless you!

Rita

Praying for everyone who is suspicious of the Catholic faith or those who have a misunderstanding or preconceived ideas about the Catholic faith.

Praying for the negatives.

I pray that before anyone speaks negatively about the Catholic Church that they stop and learn what the Church teaches. Some of my most frustrating experiences have been with Churches or synods of Churches that teach their members a lot about Catholicism but it all through their “eyeglasses” and wrong most of the time.

I have had some great conversations though with those in these situations if they are open to listening.

May the Holy Spirit enkindle the hearts of our separated brethren to learn more about the Faith through Catholic glasses.

Mary.

I will include your intentions to the Pentecost novena I am praying. May the Holy Spirit open the hearts of other Christians to the beauty and fullness of Truth in our Church. God bless!

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, through Christ Our Lord, amen.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

St. Thérèse of Liseux Prayer From “Story of A Soul”

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.

Amen. †

Lord, thank you that you are with me right now.
Your love surpasses all fear.
I give you the anxiety I feel.
I surrender all my worries to you.
Clear my mind;
Calm my heart;
Still my Spirit;
Relax my being, that, I may
always glorify you in everything
I write, speak and do.

Amen. †

Jesus, Help Me

In every need let me come to Thee with humble trust, saying,
Jesus, help me!

In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations,
Jesus, help me!

In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials,
Jesus, help me!

In the failure of my plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles and sorrows,
Jesus, help me!

When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good come from my efforts,
Jesus, help me!

When others fail me, and Thy grace alone can assist me,
Jesus, help me!

When I throw myself on Thy tender love as Father and Savior,
Jesus, help me!

When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me,
Jesus, help me!

When sickness and loneliness overcome me,
Jesus, help me!

Always, in weakness, falls and shortcomings of every kind,
Jesus, help me and never forsake me.

Thank You, dear Lord Jesus.

Amen. †

*O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity. O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power. O show us that you are our Mother.

** O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen*

Pater Noster & Ave María.
