Prayers for two music legends who died today, Aug. 8th: Glenn Campbell and Barbara Cook

Glen Campbell, great country and folk singer, died today of Alzheimer’s disease, aged 81.
Barbara Cook, legendary Broadway singer and actress as well as cabaret performer, died today of respiratory failure, aged 89.

Let us pray for the souls of these two famous entertainers, who delighted so many by devoting their lives to music. May they both rest in peace. Amen.

Lord Jesus, lead all souls to heaven
especially those most in need of thy mercy.

Thanks for the heads-up meltzerboy. I`ll be remembering them both today in prayer (Mass, Rosary).

While Glen Campbell is most often identified for his simple , peaceful songs which went straight to the heart, a little less known fact about him is that he was ranked among the top 5 guitarists in the world. He also contributed to a lot of recordings without ever receiving any credit on the albums.

But when it was time to tell people a story, then, he kept it simple.

Check out this two-minute sample of what he was already capable of very early on in his career - in 1965 :Glen Campbell and Phil Baugh guitar duel.

May God grant eternal rest to Barbara Cooks and Glen Campbells souls and welcome them into His loving embrace.

AMEN

Hail Mary,
Full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb -
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death.
AMEN

Praying for your intention.

Eternal rest grant unto Glen and Barbara, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.
May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Adding the repose of these souls to my rosary intentions for this evening. May God bless and comfort their grieving loved ones and friends.

. . . Just thought you guys might like to know that Father (without any help from us) asked us to pray for Glen Campbell this morning at Mass - both at the beginning, and again during the prayers of the faithful.

Lord, in your steadfast Love, give them eternal rest.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.
