Oh, dear - 25 years! You must be feeling such a betrayal, right about now. :frowning:

I will certainly add you to my prayers. I hope that you find a great job right away - even better than the one you lost.

I, too, lost my job of some 20 years. I know exactly how difficult it is to secure a good job after so long. And I worked menial, humiliating jobs - which I was grateful to have - just to keep a roof over my head, while I was waiting for God to bless me with suitable employment.

God never gives us less than we need, nor more than we can handle, so long as we are open to receive His grace.

When I am overwhelmed and feel devistated, I turn to my favorite passage in scripture:

*MT 14:22-33 [Jesus] made the disciples get into the boat and **precede him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When it was evening he was there alone. Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore, was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it. During the fourth watch of the night, he came toward them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified. “It is a ghost,” they said, and they cried out in fear. At once Jesus spoke to them, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” Peter said to him in reply, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” After they got into the boat, the wind died down. Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying, *“Truly, you are the Son of God.”

The disciples in the boat are us. The wind and waves are all the chaos in our lives. Through the chaos, Jesus comes to us and says, “Trust me completely. Keep your eyes on me. Step out and walk on the water.” But Jesus knows that we are human, and our eyes will be drawn away from him. He is standing there waiting for us, though, to reach out our hands and say, “Lord, save me!” And the moment we ask, He grabs us up out of our despair.

Trust Jesus. He loves you and will take care of you, if you but humbly accept his help.

You’ve got my prayers…
This happened to my husband a few years ago…best thing that could have ever happened to him, I might add. ( he was a heart attack waiting to happen)…:yup:
He did find another within a few months…one far below his capabilities… A few “well meaning friends” commented on their surprise that he took such a menial job…

He is so very happy in his work! We had to make a few adjustments in lifestyle…but who cares we live on a lot less…But now we have a life! Together!
Wait on God…He has a plan for you…

you have my prayers, and best wishes…

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with with confidence, I fly to you, O virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

i wish you Peace:thumbsup:

I’m praying for you. I understand that you will be on an emotional rollercoaster but try to begin doing the Roasry, this will give you some peace of mind. Pray for those who let you go, things will get better in time.
I’m out of work right now also, still praying…

Hi, Mike,

I thought that compactdiss suggestion about
saying the rosary was a fine idea. Calming,
repetitive prayer…if you have the energy.
I’m praying for you, Mike,

Maureen

Helo Mike,

My heart goes out to you. My husband lost his job after 29 1/2 years of service with Union Carbide. He was short of 9 months for full pension…that is a lost dream…

He did get another job shortly thereafter (after praying to the Lord and going to Mass. He received 2 offers) but that plant also folded.

Now he does school bus. He is 55 years old and I believe depressed. He made $85,000.00/year and would’ve had $65,000/year pension with all benefits. Now he makes $10.00/hr. I believe the Lord is asking us to simplify our lives, although people would’ve never known we brought such a salary into the house. Thanks to his foresight, we have tried to build a nest egg…that was supposed to be our pension…being whitled away…again and again…

Hang in there…pray…trust…our faith is just being tested. If we have a roof over our head, food to eat and clothes on our back we are doing a lot better than many, many in the world. We are surrounded by family and friends…who also pray for us.

Money is transient…our Lord giveth and our Lord taketh. The sun still rises in the morning and we have heat to keep us warm.

My favourite prayer is:

Jesus, I trust in You…

Blessings,
Shoshana

Very touching story Shoshana. I’ve added your and your husband to my prayers. You are showing your faith, you still trust in God. I wish you both the best.

Here’s a passage for you Mike and Shoshana-

Luke 12: 22-31

He said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life and what you will eat, or about your body and what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food and the body more than clothing. 24 Notice the ravens: they do not sow or reap; they have neither storehouse or barn, yet God feeds them. How much more important are you than the birds! 25 Can any of you by worrying add a moment to your life span? 26 If even the smallest things are beyond your control, why are you anxious about the rest? 27 Notice how the flowers grow. They do not toil or spin. But I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of them. 28 If God so clothes the grass in the field that grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith? 29 As for you, do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not worry anymore. 30 All the nations of the world seek for these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 Instead, seek his kingdom, and these other things will be given you besides.
