At first blush I was ready to criticize him for this, but after hearing his reasoning, I think he may be right.

including more context from the story

[quote=ABCNews]President Obama will veto a bill allowing families of 9/11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia in U.S. courts, White House press secretary Josh Earnest announced today.

“That is still the plan,” Earnest said. “The president does intend to veto this legislation.”

He added, “It’s not hard to imagine other countries using this law as an excuse to haul U.S. diplomats or U.S. service members or even U.S. companies into courts all around the world.”

The measure, which passed the House and Senate by a voice vote, would give families of 9/11 victims the ability to sue Saudi Arabia for any alleged involvement in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Yes, he may be right. This bill would set a bad precedent, where our soldiers and leaders in the future could be subject to the same type of lawsuits.
