Promises of Christ

Some common prayers ask ‘that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.’ Is this a reference to some specific list of promises? Is it simply an expression of a general hope of salvation? Or, maybe it means something else?

Just curious to know what people are thinking when they say those words.

I have always thought it referred to the hope of eternal life available to us through Christ’s death and resurrection.

The promises of Jesus (regarding salvation) are found by reading through the gospels. The prayer refers to these promises implicit or obvious in His words and teachings. God bless you.Trishie
