Proper blessing of a Saint medal?

I have a medal of Saint Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin and i would like to get it blessed by my priest. However, i was wondering, is there a norm for the blessing of a Saint medal, perhaps in the Roman Ritual?

I told him i would prefer a blessing that included offcial prayers of the church. Would it be licit for me to use the collect from his feast and then the blessing or is this wrong?

Thank you!

One of the official liturgical books is “Book of Blessings”.

In the translation approved for the USA, Chapter 44, “Order for the Blessing of Religious Articles” is the one to use.

The introduction begins: “1442 The present order is to be used to bless medals, …”.

There is a normal ceremony and shorter rite, with a priest or deacon presiding.

Part of the introduction has:

“1445 When a single religious article is to be blessed, the minister may use the shorter rite provided at the end of this chapter, nos. 1458-1461, or in special circumstances, the short formularly given in no. 1462.”

The short formularly would be, in this case:
May this medal and the one who uses it be blessed,
in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
R. Amen.
