Question on the Sinai Covenant

Hi Everyone!

Recently I have been learning much more about the various covenants in Scripture. I understand that each covenant has a sign, and from what I understand, the Passover is the sign of the Sinai covenant. Am I correct here? How does it actually tie in with the Sinai Covenant? I am confused because the Passover takes place before the Sinai Covenant was established. Can anyone help me out here? Thank you for your time!

I thought the sign of the Mosaic covenant was the sabbath.

Exodus 31

12 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
13 Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: See that thou keep my sabbath: because it is a sign between me and you in your generations: that you may know that I am the Lord, who sanctify you.
14 Keep you my sabbath: for it is holy unto you: he that shall profane it, shall be put to death: he that shall do my work in it, his soul shall perish out of the midst of his people.
