Question regarding confession

#1

Are you required to make the sign of the cross after the priest absolves you? If so, does forgetting to do so invalidate the confession?

#2

no and no.

When the priest gives you the blessing, it is typical for you to make the sign of the cross also, but it has no impact on the validity of the sacrament.

The only thing you can do, or not do, to invalidate a confession is to deliberately hold back a mortal sin.

The only thing a priest can do, or not do, to invalidate a confession is to not say the words "I absolve you of your sins".

(There are some exceptions in canon law, but the above apply for all practical purposes).
