Reception after same-sex "wedding" ceremony

I realize that it’s not a good idea to attend a same-sex “wedding” ceremony. However, how about a reception that would take place afterwards? Would one create scandal by merely attending such a reception?

It is not a good idea to attend for the exact same reason that attending the “ceremony” would be a problem. it has nothing to do with when in teh celebration you show up, the problem is the entire celebration itself.

Yep. That has scandal written all over it.

Presence there gives a sense of approval

Exactly. I will never go to a gay so called marriage, reception, engagement ceremony, or anything to do with gay so called marriage.

Yes such too can be said to be approving etc of the “attempted wedding”. I would not attend such events.

Catechism of the Catholic Church:

1868 Sin is a personal act. Moreover, we have a responsibility for the sins committed by others when we cooperate in them:

  • by participating directly and voluntarily in them;

  • by ordering, advising, praising, or approving them;

  • by not disclosing or not hindering them when we have an obligation to do so;

  • by protecting evil-doers.
