Recommendations on books about saints?

Hi there,

I know very little about saints (basically all I know is that St Nicholas is patron saint of Russia and ships, St George is patron saint of England, St David of Wales, etc) so I’d like a book on the lives of the saints. I’d like it not to be too complicated (a reference guide type thing) but one which gives unusual saints as well as common saints. A book that gives details of their lives, as well as what they are saints of.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try My Life with the Saints by Father James Martin. It covers the usual and expected saints but also some that are not as well known. And, it links the saints to Father Martin’s own spiritual journey.
