Rome’s Trevi fountain to be dyed red on April 29 for new Christian martyrs: cruxnow.com/church/2016/04/20/romes-trevi-fountain-to-turn-red-for-new-christian-martyrs/ …
Hopefully they’ve checked to make sure the dye won’t harm the historic fountain. I mean the idea behind this is obviously a worthy and important one.
On the Feast Day of St. Catherine of Siena, Doctor of the Church (FYI). Blood of the martyrs, pray for us!
Roughly a decade ago, a vandal dumped red dye into the Trevi fountain. No harm was done, as the dye was not absorbed into the marble.
I would think authorities would have done some research into dyes after such an event, and certainly before using dye themselves.
The gesture to draw attention to the martyrs is admirable, I think.
Blood of the martyrs, pray for us! :signofcross:
I hope it will bring attention to Christian martyrdom happening today.
