Russian Orthodox, Polish Catholic Churches Appeal for Forgiveness

The Russian Orthodox patriarch has come to Poland to join with the highest-ranking leader of the Catholic Church in Poland, in a religion-motivated call to believers in both nations to ask for forgiveness from each other, after centuries of conflict, open emnity, and distrust between the two nations, which left spiritual wounds. Patriarch Krill stressed that serving the Christian religion obligated church leaders to promote this reconciliation. These leaders also said that they were creating a bridge between their two churches, the Orthodox and the Catholic.
