SACRAMENTS

#1

Our teaching is that one must be in the state of grace to receive the sacraments, other than Reconciliation and Last Rites (Annointing of the Sick). Yet so many people come to the Church to get married when by their own admissison they are cohabitating, have not attended Mass in years, and are practicing artificial birth control. They get married at Mass and receivce the Eucharist as if they are truly Catholic. Is it proper that these people be married in the church, and receive other sacraments? Must they go to Confession prior to being married? Howw should clergy address these issues with the individuals involved?
