Saint for a Correct Medical Diagnosis

#1

Does anyone know of a good patron saint for FINDING a correct medical diagnosis? When I look online everything is for a saint to help with a good medical report or negative test result, but I am instead searching for a proper diagnosis.

I’ve been praying to St. Anthony, St. Jude, St. Michael, and the Surrender Novena and Sacred Heart Novena for this problem. The medical attacks continue every few months for years now and no doctor or hospital can find the cause. Any patron saints for finding a correct diagnosis?

Thank you!

Well, it needs a skilled doctor to make the right diagnosis.

Pray to Saint Luke, Sts Cosmas and Damien and St Raphael, who are patron saints of doctors.

#3

Although not specifically designated for this cause, Sts. Joseph and Padre Pio are my go-to saints for everything that no one else seems to answer.

Sts Cosmos and Damien
St Panteleon.
The three above were all physicians.

#5

St Luke reputedly was also a physician, which ie ehy he is also a patron of doctors.

#6

Just pray to your favorite saint, that’s what I do.

Firstly, hang in there and keep trying! I know what this search is like…been there my self…dont give up.

St Monica - Patron saint of persistence
St Christopher - Patron saint of good luck
St Rita of casica- patron saint of impossible causes (just cos it feels like that not cos it is)

Of course don’t forget Our Lady who is always able to help us sort any troubles out. God bless you!

Thank you! I’ve never heard of St. Cosmas and Damian. I looked them up and will definitely pray to them!

#9

Thank you! I’ve never heard of all 3- I will pray to them! Thank you!

Thank you! I never knew St. Christopher was the patron saint of good luck! I definitely need some of that! Thank you!

St Gianna was a physician and mother. She is a beautiful recent addition to our Church’s list of Saints.

Here’s more about her:

That’s a good one! I knew she was of kids/families but did not think about physician. Thank you!

Doctor’s advice:

“I took for my advocate and lord the glorious Saint Joseph and commended myself earnestly to him; and I found that this my father and lord delivered me both from this trouble and also from other and greater troubles concerning my honor and the loss of my soul, and that he gave me greater blessings than I could ask of him.
I do not remember even now that I have ever asked anything of him which he has failed to grant. I am astonished at the great favors which God has bestowed on me through this blessed saint, and at the perils from which He has freed me, both in body and in soul. To other saints the Lord seems to have given grace to succor us in some of our necessities but of this glorious saint my experience is that he succors us in them all and that the Lord wishes to teach us that as He was Himself subject to him on earth (for, being His guardian and being called His father, he could command Him) just so in Heaven He still does all that he asks.
This has also been the experience of other persons whom I have advised to commend themselves to him; and even to-day there are many who have great devotion to him through having newly experienced this truth.”

From St. Teresa of Avila , Autobiography, chapter 6.

Go, St. Joseph!

St. Christopher is not the “patron saint of good luck”. There’s no such thing as “luck” in Catholic theology. St. Christopher is the Patron Saint of Travelers and Children, that’s why people put a St. Christopher medal in their cars or in their luggage, etc… It’s not meant to be some kind of a “good luck” talisman.

Another Saint you might want to try is St. Gerard, especially for issues related to motherhood. He’s the Patron Saint of Mothers. But, be careful. He’s powerful!

Thank you! My greatest dream is to get married and have kids, but this illness is making me bed bound. Hopefully one day. Maybe I will add St. Gerard to the list. Thank you.

You’re very welcome. But, before you give up on him, St. Gerard is actually powerful for any kind of problems. His specialty is mothers and children, but he’s also powerful to help with any other medical conditions. He can also help with any financial situations, as well. It can’t hurt to give him a try.

This prayer might be a little more suited to your situation. You can say it as a novena, too.

For Special Blessings

Dear Saint Gerard, we rejoice in thy happiness and glory; we bless the Lord Who endowed thee with the choicest gifts of His Grace; we congratulate thee for corresponding so faithfully with them. Obtain for us, we pray thee, some part of thy angelic purity, thy burning love for Jesus in the Tabernacle, thy tender devotion to Mary Immaculate. In thy brotherly love which made thee the support of the poor, the comforter of the afflicted and the apostle of the most forsaken souls, grant me the favors for which I now pray.
(Here mention them privately)
O most Powerful Patron, who hast always helped those who prayed to thee intercede for me before the Throne of God. O Good Saint, to thee I confide my fervent prayers; graciously accept them and, before the end of these days of prayer, let me experience in some way the effects of thy powerful intercession. Amen
