Salvation outside catholic church

Is there salvation outside catholic church? If one leads a good life and repent about his sin will get salvation:

Hi josetheque,

Hi Josetheke,

Here is the doctrine of the Church on this matter, from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

**“Outside the Church there is no salvation” **

846 How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers?335 Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:

Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.336

847 This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church:

Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.337

848 "Although in ways known to himself God can lead those who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the Gospel, to that faith without which it is impossible to please him, the Church still has the obligation and also the sacred right to evangelize all men."338

It would be a grave error, and perhaps a serious sin, to discourage someone who is interested in the Catholic Church, from pursuing his quest, on the basis of this doctrine. The Catholic Church has the sacraments of Christ, which are a powerful help toward salvation. It has the guidance of the Holy Father and the hierarchy, which keeps it on the path of truth.

Laudatur Iesus Christus.

This question is treacherous. It seems to have simple answers, but one could begin to answer with either, “Yes” or “No,” and then need the opposite answer to temper the response. (This is true of many truths of the Faith.)

I would like to cast this response in a way that might further discussion of the matter:

Because the Church exists and does her work, a good man not in the Church may be saved. If the Church did not exist, if no Masses were offered, then the answer to your question would be “NO; without the Catholic Church a good man cannot be saved by good works or intensions.”

Because the Church does exist and does offer the Mass perpetually, the answer to your question is “YES, it is possible for a good man not in the Church to be saved, though this is doubtful in most actual cases.”

This point bears emphasis because some people within the Church talk as though attendance at Mass turns on a question of personal enrichment or nourishment. (Some even argue that they need not attend Mass, if they are not “getting anything out of it” personally.) This seems to mistake or omit consideration of the Mass’s salvific effect in propagating to the actual world the salvation of the Cross, as the world progresses through time and new persons are created and require salvation.

Pax Christi nobiscum.

It’s right in the bible, man. Romans chapter 2:14-16

For when the Gentiles who do not have the law by nature observe the prescriptions of the law, they are a law for themselves even though they do not have the law. They show that the demands of the law are written in their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even defend them on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge people’s hidden works through Christ Jesus.

No, there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. Anyone who is saved is saved through the Catholic Church, whether formal members of it or not.

We do not know, only God knows. We do know that one who knows the Catholic Church to be true cannot remain outside the Church without grave peril to their soul.

No, there is no Salvation outside the Church.

Now we don’t limit the people who are part of Christ’s Church as God has ways of touching everyone and letting them open themselves up to His truth.

Really all the Catholic Church is, is the humility to submit to truth, and be willing to change according to God’s truth. It is placing God first instead of man. If I make myself the judge of truth instead of submit to it I am making myself God and not fit to enter Heaven, as we must acknowledge the one God.

In Christ
