Second Sanders staffer caught praising Soviet Union, fantasizing about violence

Add to these the Holocaust. Despite the protestations of 21st century socialists, while Hitler’s type of socialism was different, it was indeed socialism.

I think we should add the destruction of the Mongol Empire to this list, as well as the murders committed by Jeffrey Dahmer and the Burial of the Scholars by Chinese Emperor Qin Shi Huang.

Well, if these people were indeed socialists like Hitler, Mao and the others, go ahead.

Maybe, but they are certainly indistinguishable from Mussolini’s blackshirts.

How? They’re not even a paramilitary organisation!

Tactics, outfits, the desire to limit the speech of opposition groups.

Foul language in video, unfortunately. But, considering the rest of the content, I guess that’s to be expected.

You are right Pat_Albertson.

Antifa is a bad group.

Antifa supporters often argue they are not an “organization” but people with mixed values loosely associating.

To that I would agree that there is
a lot of “loose association” from the antifa types out there in the real world.

Where the college students (not all but many) are headed with these ideas . . . .

They are ultimately headed to “a big enough mass movement of people in the streets” to FORCE people to pay for their wants.

This is what they see the “movement” all boiling down to. FORCE.

Operating with impunity in most contexts, where the political apparatus supports, implicitly, their positions.

Nor does it surprise me since it is a non-story in regard to national significance - a staffer using colorful language to express his enthusiasm in private.

I agree. It is what I expect from authoritarian socialists

Sanders has always condemned the Soviet Union. There’s clips of him doing so as early as 1981. These people don’t represent his position.

And authoritarian Republicans.

Authoritarian and republican / Republican is a contradiction in terms.

I don’t know about the condemnation of the Soviet Union, but I agree these people probably do not represent Sanders.

In this clip here he condemns the Soviet Union on his own - it isn’t brought up by the interviewer. This is in 1981.

Honestly looking at Sanders in the past is a good way to get an idea of how non-radical he is. I would be incredibly comfortable with forcefully expropriating all property from the ruling class, but this isn’t an idea that Sanders has ever expressed support for.
