Senate finds IRS targeted liberal groups as well

This has been known from the beginning and it is a fact which House Republicans chose to ignore.

I thought so… Just thought this forum in particular might benefit from the truth on this issue.

Alright well how about a less biased source:

Also, more truth, since everyone benefits from more truth:

“Levin is chairman of the investigations subcommittee and McCain is the ranking Republican. Their staffs routinely work together on investigations, and while they don’t always agree on the results, it is highly unusual for them to issue such diverging reports.”

The Huffpo article didn’t even mention this little fact:

“Meanwhile, in a letter released Thursday, J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration (TIGTA), noted that out of the 298 groups set aside for a closer look between May 2010 and May 2012, only six had the words “progress” or “progressive” in their names.” (from a June 2013 CBS report)

CBS is hardly pro-GOP.

Oh, and there are two other investigations going on…

Judicial Watch and Daily Caller Are On Trail To “The Red List” – The IRS/DOJ “Research Project”….
Posted on September 5, 2014 by sundance
The Daily Caller is reporting on, what Judicial Watch is finding. Both are beginning to find the trail to the “Schedule B” data used to assemble the “Red List”, or the targeting list.
Judicial watch Freedom Of Information Act inquiry has found internal IRS communications about a “Secret Research Project“. This project we have previously identified was a compilation of individual names and organizations the DOJ deemed antithetical to the goals of the Obama administration.

The “Red List” was created as an outcome of the Schedule B filings illegally released by the IRS to the DOJ as part of their collaborative efforts.

(Daily Caller) The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) improperly obtained donor lists from nonprofit groups as part of a “secret research project” being run by Lois Lerner and other officials.
IRS official David Fish revealed the “secret research project” in a June 27, 2012 email to Lerner’s direct subordinate Holly Paz, according to emails released Thursday by the nonprofit group Judicial Watch, which obtained the emails in a pending Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

Just a few and those “targeted” quickly received their tax exempt status. Meanwhile the Tea Party groups were harassed incessantly and it was years before some got their tax exempt status.

This was a concerted effort by biased liberal people in the IRS to target conservative groups during an election year.

A Senate controlled by Democrats find that their political enemies in the Tea Party were treated as fairly as their liberal friends by the IRS.

This is trustworthy, because politicians have never been known to advance an agenda.

Nothing to see here folks. Move along.

A senior communications aide to Attorney General Eric Holder seemingly called House oversight committee chairman Darrell Issa’s staff by accident and asked for their help spinning new revelations about the IRS scandal, Issa said in a September 8 letter to Holder.
The aide, Brian Fallon, is a former senior aide to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and a well-known personality on Capitol Hill. The letter describes Fallon as “audibly shaken” when he realizes his request to leak documents to help get ahead of news stories about them was mistakenly made to the very office he was seeking to undermine. Issa believes the call was intended to be made to Democratic Rep. Elijah Cumming’s staff, the ranking member on the oversight panel, the letter said.
According to the letter, Fallon – who is not named in the letter but confirmed he made the call – asked if the aides could release the IRS scandal documents to “selected reporters” to give Fallon an “opportunity to comment publicly on it.”
Fallon explained to Issa aides that the Justice Department’s Office of Legislative Affairs had not permitted him to release the documents to the public and he wanted to get ahead of the story “before the Majority” – meaning Issa – could share it, according to the letter.
Issa aides – who had placed the call on speakerphone – were “caught off guard by the unusual nature of the call and the odd request” and asked Fallon to “e-mail the material for evaluation.”
“At this point,” Fallon “abruptly placed the call on hold for approximately three minutes.” When Fallon returned to the call, “he was audibly shaken. He immediately stated that there was a ‘change in plans’ and that there would be no effort” by DOJ to release the material early.

Not even a smidgen of corruption?

I think most of us can agree that it is a two-way street. Politics is such an ugly business.

Doesn’t seem like much of a two way street to me when almost all of the special scrutiny was against conservative groups.

Politics can be ugly, except when it actually does expose politicians with a totalitarian mindset to public scrutiny. And then it doesn’t look so bad.

John Mc Cain … Ron Paul … shoot,*** everybody!***

Including maybe …

YOU!

Even if true, the democrats have not only put forth little effort to uncover the truth but have gone out of their way to defend the IRS and deflect the issue so that they can maintain an advantage in elections.

Frankly, the democrats don’t seem interested in this at all, and it seems as though the IRS may have targeted a few liberal groups just to blunt any political fallout for democrats should a scandal emerge.

Really, why would the Obama-led IRS otherwise target liberal groups?

Doesn’t seem like much of a two way street to me when almost all of the special scrutiny was against conservative groups.

It’s isn’t, for sure.

I suspect there’s a ploy in there somewhere to blunt the force of the TEA PARTY.

Why did the Republicans suddenly make an issue out of something that has been done under multiple Administrations and try to hide the fact that this so called “targeting” wasn’t so partisan after all?

Emperor, do you think Lois Lerner has acted fairly and even-handedly with Tea Party groups and associations in her IRS capacity?

What I know is that they weren’t treated differently than progressive groups in terms of scrutiny. They just complained about it more.

Except, of course, that massively more conservative groups were scrutinized and all the liberal groups got their approval while many of the conservative groups are still pending as we speak. I would say they have plenty to complain about.

Maybe you can tell us how many and which liberal groups were asked “what they pray for” like some of the conservative ones were.

Judicial Watch, thru Freedom of Info. Act, discovered emails revealing Lois Lerner was in contact with the DOJ. She wanted to bring criminal charges against tea party groups. She was hoping to get at least one person jailed to set an example to the rest of the tea party groups.

This is not simply “scrutiny”.

Thanks for your feedback.

If the percentages of cases delayed were 80/20 conservative / progressive would that have an influence on your reckoning? Do you know what the percentages are?

Disclaimer : I have no idea if the percentages are 80:20, 50:50 or 20:80.
