SERIES: Children of the Red King (Charlie Bone)

Anyone read this series?

A teacher at school recommended it for our 9 yr old. He started reading it but got bored.

I picked it up and I have to admit was a bit bored. But there seems to be some hooks and I’m contemplating reading the next book.

Anyone read these? Is it worth the time/effort?

Sorry, I haven’t read the Charlie Bone books, but I did read the “Snowspider Trilogy” by the same author (Jenny Nimmo) and enjoyed it very much.

Some other books I’d recommend for a 9-year old are “The Tale of Despereaux” and “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” by Kate DiCamillo.

Speaking of The Tale of Despereaux, that has been made into a movie and will be released in theaters this December.

I read the Charlie Bone books a while ago. In my opinion, they’re not too original.
