No one here supports violence of any type - and that must include government violence of God-given rights. The USA was built on a two-sided coin: protecting the citizen’s rights and limiting government’s ability to violate those rights.
Today, ignoring the complete failure of laws restricting inanimate objects, more such laws are called for. The socially acceptable argument is that “reasonable” or “common sense” legislation should be adopted.
It already has been. The Decalogue.
- Murder - illegal
- Assault with a deadly weapon - illegal
Why does seemingly no one ponder why so many mentally unstable persons freely wander about? Why does no one ask for ‘truck rental control’ or ‘fertilizer control’? Timothy McVeigh used freely available chemicals and a rental truck to kill 168 and injure scores more. Recent Islamic fundamentalists both in Europe and the US have decided not to use firearms, but rather, something more subversive, something more readily available, something unnoticed, something more subtle.
The Assault Delivery Truck.
Freely rented by anyone, no matter how mentally unstable, who has a driver’s license. And the states have had a mania for offering licenses to those with or without documents. No mental health history needed. Walk down the street with a rifle and everyone notices. Drive a truck and no one notices - until too late.
Tighten down weapons and those bent on homicide get creative.
The Las Vegas shooter also had fertilizer components. Why was he readily able to buy ‘chemicals of mass destruction’ so easily? Each farm in this nation is a potential source for terrorists. What now?
More laws. More laws. More laws.
And violence only increases.
