Should we pray for a suicide victim?

Our 18 year old godson recently committed suicide. In our nightly prayers, my husband has stopped praying for him. I know that murder of oneself is a sin, but what are our duties as Christians to pray for those who kill themselves? Should we continue to pray for him? And if so, how? Saying what?

Still reeling,

We are very sorry for your loss and will certainly join you in prayer. The following links should help answer your question about suicide. If you have any further questions, please contact Catholic Answers directly.
