To talk about priests and bishops in the context of the early days of the judaic Christian community is laughable. If Peter and the others heard that, they would not have a clue what was meant. Don’t read backwards into history and telescope 2000 years of Christian and Catholic evolution onto the events at and after the Resurrection and Pentecost.
Why is talking about bishops and priests laughable for early Christianity?
Hold on. Peter and the others knew the realities established in them in the deepest way possible. Knowledge as a union of likeness. They acted out of that reality religiously but that doesn’t mean they understood it’s implications relative to the Church of the future.
Well, Paul writes of bishops in 1 Tim. 3, so will you let us telescope back 20 or 30 years?
