St. Ambrose Day: Romite Ambrosiane, Italy

This cloistered community is indigenous to Italy and was founded in the 1400s. They had expanded to teaching at one point in their history, but after Vatican II, returned exclusively to the cloister. The word “Romite” is Italian for “hermit.”
