St. John and John the Baptist

Is St. John and John the Baptist the same person?
Did John the Baptist write the book of John and the book of Revelation in the Bible?

Hi Miriam -

They are two different people. St. John the Apostle wrote the book of John and Revelation.

Here are some links for you.

St. John the Apostle

St. John the Baptist

Miriam… Jesus did not begin his ministry until John the Baptist had baptized him then if you recall, he chose his 12 and went into the desert. When he came back, he sent a messenger to ask if he was the one. Not very long after that John was in jail and then he was beheaded… so neither books of the Bible were written by him. John The Baptist has been referred to as one of the last people of the Old Covenant… often supported by Matthew 11:11
11 Amen I say to you, there hath not risen among them that are born of women a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is the lesser in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. (because those in heaven were from the new covenant until Jesus was crucified and descended to Shoel and retrieved them and brought them to heaven)

Ruslan was absolutely correct.

Thanks so much for the replies. I have been so confused about this.

No problem. Glad the posts could help.
