There may not be for everyone, but there is a new reverent and beautiful work of art in the sacred music world. Irish composer/concert pianist Philip Carty has created a series of musical meditations based on the stations of the cross.
But he didn’t stop there. He got permission from the great art galleries around the world to use prints of famous paintings of the stations of the cross from the last 500 years or so. (Those paintings are in the actual piano book)
Then he also put together a meditation booklet the audience could look at during the concert.
From all accounts his concert(s) in Ireland moved people to tears. He may be giving a US concert tour in the next year or so. He is also now working on sacred piano music based upon the mysteries of the rosary.
Check out his website to learn more about him and hear some samples of the music.
