Suggestions for Christmas Eve readings

My family has traditionally read the following on Christmas Eve:

Polar Express
’Twas the Night Before Christmas
Luke 2: 1-20

We’ve done this since the kids were born (now they’re ages 22 and 24), and will still read the above, but I’d appreciate suggestions for other readings as well.

I’d appreciate all suggestions, but I’m currently looking for a “tie it all together” scripture reading. I haven’t given it much thought, but was considering reading John 1: 1-14 (“In the beginning was the Word…and the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among them”), prior to Luke narrative.

Recommendations, anyone?

We start reading Dicken’s Christmas Carol a few days before Christams and finish it on Christmas Eve. We then read the Nativity story from Luke.

That’s an interesting idea. We’ve always taken the easy route (the movie). We particularly like the Muppets version. Same message, but fun and lighthearted. We also watch one of the older versions that we own.
