The teenage daughter of a colleague of mine has just committed suicide. She had been suffering from depression for years.

Please pray for the repose of her soul, and to ease the pain of her parents and brother.

My prayers are with all involved.

Yes, you are at the parish I think.

Terribly terribly sad.

Used to be. Not anymore; I’m in the North West, now.

I hadn’t seen her in years, except from a distance or in passing. (Last time I saw her to speak to her, she was helping me make Rosaries, in May of 2010.) I just assumed she was fine - she always seemed to have it all together, and she always got good grades, always had a boy friend, and kept herself busy with work and school. She even did some work for the Diocese, and was one of their “reliables.”

She was so pretty, and everyone liked her. What a shock. Such a waste. Very sad. :frowning:

I am at a loss.

At the beginning of the school year we had a similar tragedy - a bright, energetic, much loved and talented boy.

So many young people have died this year in this area in similar circumstances.

So, so sad.

Psalm 31

In you, O Lord, I seek refuge;
do not let me ever be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me.
Incline your ear to me;
rescue me speedily.
Be a rock of refuge for me,
a strong fortress to save me.

You are indeed my rock and my fortress;
for your name’s sake lead me and guide me,
take me out of the net that is hidden for me,
for you are my refuge.
Into your hand I commit my spirit;
you have redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.

You hate[a] those who pay regard to worthless idols,
but I trust in the Lord.
I will exult and rejoice in your steadfast love,
because you have seen my affliction;
you have taken heed of my adversities,
and have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy;
you have set my feet in a broad place.

Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress;
my eye wastes away from grief,
my soul and body also.
For my life is spent with sorrow,
and my years with sighing;
my strength fails because of my misery,
and my bones waste away.

I am the scorn of all my adversaries,
a horror to my neighbours,
an object of dread to my acquaintances;
those who see me in the street flee from me.
I have passed out of mind like one who is dead;
I have become like a broken vessel.
For I hear the whispering of many—
terror all around!—
as they scheme together against me,
as they plot to take my life.

But I trust in you, O Lord;
I say, ‘You are my God.’
My times are in your hand;
deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors.
Let your face shine upon your servant;
save me in your steadfast love.
Do not let me be put to shame, O Lord,
for I call on you;
let the wicked be put to shame;
let them go dumbfounded to Sheol.

Let the lying lips be stilled
that speak insolently against the righteous
with pride and contempt.
O how abundant is your goodness
that you have laid up for those who fear you,
and accomplished for those who take refuge in you,
in the sight of everyone!
In the shelter of your presence you hide them
from human plots;
you hold them safe under your shelter
from contentious tongues.

Blessed be the Lord,
for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me
when I was beset as a city under siege.
I had said in my alarm,
‘I am driven far[d] from your sight.’
But you heard my supplications
when I cried out to you for help.
Love the Lord, all you his saints.
The Lord preserves the faithful,
but abundantly repays the one who acts haughtily.
Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
all you who wait for the Lord.

Terrible. :frowning:

My heart goes out to all involved with this young one, particularly her parents and family, as well as her faith community. I pray that all heal and come to know Jesus better through this ordeal. I will offer a Mass and Communion tomorrow morning for the repose of her soul and the healing of others. God Bless you.

Thank you.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

*REQUIEM aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace. Amen. *

Thank you!

Just prayed to St. Jude of cases despaired of, I’m
sure he and Mary will be of good company here.

Thank you; that is so thoughtful! :heart:

Our Father who art in heaven
Hallow be Thy name
Thy kingdom come Thy Will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven
give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses as
we forgive those that trespass against us
lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil

I will remember this poor girl and her loved ones in my prayers today.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord

Heavenly and ever loving Father,
Have mercy on the soul of our departed sister,
Grant her peace and a serenity she could not find on earth
Father have pity on those who suffer with life’s challenges
Who struggle to see your light in the darkness
Take her soul and hold her forever in your arms
Send your Spirit to her family, to comfort them in their despair
Call them always closer to you
Lord her pain is now over, and we pray that she will find eternal rest with you forever.

which is love and mercy itself . Amen

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Thanks for your prayers so far.

The memorial service is tonight and the funeral mass tomorrow.

Please keep this young woman and her family in your prayers.

Please continue to pray for this young woman and her family.

I also have another request:

While at the service tonight one of the counsellors from my school told me that the sister of one of the boys in my TA (home room) has also killed herself. I have to see the family tomorrow.
