I feel like asking, “what’s new?” War sure isn’t.
…not a time for passivity. There are too many lives at stake…not to mention each soul that finds the topic blasé and not worth a prayer to God.
Stating that those who are bombing Aleppo will be “accountable to God,” Pope Francis appealed for peace in the Syrian city.
This is really terrible to see, both as a humanitarian crisis and as a geopolitical catastrophe.
Iran is taking over the Middle East with Russian help. Turkey, a Sunni Islamist state and nominal NATO member, is carving out a buffer between itself and the developing Iranian “empire”. Meanwhile, the U.S. is providing Iran with air support and some ground forces. Local radical and non-radical forces are taking a pounding. Syria and Iraq are outpouring largely Sunni refugees and terrorists into the west.
A more abject failure of American foreign policy could hardly be imagined.

U.S. President Barack Obama will consider a variety of responses to Russia’s hacking of political party organizations and it is possible that any action may not be announced publicly, the White House said on Tuesday.

Obama has a couple bones to chew. It does seem that Obama and Putin are the greatest friction points.
