Tax filings reveal Biden cancer charity spent millions on salaries, zero on research

A cancer charity started by Joe Biden gave out no money to research, and spent most of its contributions on staff salaries, federal filings show.

The Biden Cancer Initiative was founded in 2017 by the former vice president and his wife Jill Biden to “develop and drive implementation of solutions to accelerate progress in cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, research and care and to reduce disparities in cancer outcomes,” according to its IRS mission statement. But it gave out no grants in its first two years, and spent millions on the salaries of former Washington DC aides it hired.

The charity took in $4,809,619 in contributions in fiscal years 2017 and 2018, and spent $3,070,301 on payroll in those two years. The group’s president, Gregory Simon, raked in $429,850 in fiscal 2018 (July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019), according to the charity’s most recent federal tax filings.

The Biden Cancer Initiative did not fund cancer research. Rather, it tried to harness the Bidens’ “convening” power to prod researchers, companies and patient groups to collaborate and move faster to improve data sharing, clinical trials and cancer-care accessibility, Greg Simon, the group’s president, said in an interview.

I have no idea what the BCI did exactly, but isn’t it good that they spent their money on whatever their objective was, instead on something that was not their focus, like research?

If the NY Post wants to report accurately, the headline should be Tax filings reveal Biden cancer charity spent millions on salaries, zero on prodding researchers, companies and patient groups to collaborate and move faster to improve data sharing, clinical trials and cancer-care accessibility

Silly Biden, attempting to scam money by heading up a charity. He should have been smart and started a ‘university’ instead!

He learned this charity scam from Bill and Hillary … its a good gig . .that and getting your family onto Company Boards and obtaining government contracts … and dont forget 10% for the “Big Guy”

Trump and Trump University - however failed, defunct and whatever - was not done by using a senator and vice presidential government office for personal gain and doing so for nearly a half a century … that is a lot of graft, corruption and greed …

This is exactly the reason why so many people voted for President Trump. To end this deep state corruption.

Oh yeah and because he is a white supremacist somehow that never is satisfactorily explained but must be true because some people really (want to) believe it rather than face reality.

Biden said himself he that in a Biden administration, we will cure cancer, so I don’t see the need for research at this point. Joe’s got this.

Why does this not surprise me?

Yeah, troubling that Biden’s cancer charity only enriched some individuals. I remember reading about that over the summer.

If it wasn’t a cancer research fund to begin with, why is it odd that they spent no money on research?

Please don’t act like Trump is a saint in this regard folks…

Looks like there is more to the story:

Eric Trump funneled cancer charity money to his businesses, associates: Report
A spokesman for the president’s son said such claims are “shameful.”

— – Eric Trump is slamming a Forbes report that alleges his charity, the Eric Trump Foundation, has been funneling donations – from donors who believed the money was going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – to the Trump Organization by paying high sums for use of Trump properties during fundraisers and redonating some funds to charities friendly with Trump interests.

I don’t think anyone is claiming that.
