teenwire thread deleted?

What happened to the teenwire thread? Was it deleted? Why in the world?

some threads are deleted for different reasons… no interest, redundant, volitile, but you will rarely be given the reason… lot’s of times it’s because other threads are already filling the void, or other websites are more applicalble for teenagers… but i don’t have any idea why it was deleted, you can PM the administrator… then hold your breath, they might respond…

Peace

perhaps the thread had too much of a bad thing–Tlaloc?

I have little doubt that it was one of your posts (namely, the one about what “Billy” did, I’m sure you remember which one it was. it was probably the most sexually explicit post in the thread). But if not, it was because there was certainly “too much of a bad thing–Tlaloc?” and, don’t forget, sbc. I’m not trying to be mean, but your defense of Planned Parenthood in that thread is indefensible and despicable.

Oh, man. I wanted to see if there was any retort to my last post. Or, was the thread deleted right after that?

No, Tlaloc wasn’t around after that, but it didn’t last very long after your post… I believe I was the last person to post, but I can’t remember what I said. One of the things I said was :clapping: in response to your post and :banghead: in response to Tlaloc.

7 out of 8 have ventured to say that the reason the thread was deleted was that poster with the screen name “Tlaloc”.

I , too, think that the fact that he/she dinigrated Our Lady, the Filthy concepts he promoted and the innapropriate language caused the thread to be deleted. There is no place for the attitude and language of Tlaloc on a CATHOLIC Forum. :tiphat:

I think that it was getting a bit too graphic. I hesitated a couple of times to describe some of the content of the site. I suggested it was more pornographic than informational and I suspect the reason that PP set it up was to make itself the place to go to ask questions you know you shouldn’t be asking.

It was also getting a bit redundant so I guess we go on to other things!

It seems to me that the thread was getting way too long, contentious and graphic.

The last thing I saw was Victoria’s post, which was short, sweet, and a good way to end it!

For whatever reason the thread was deleted, this is really bad. I certainly posted nothing “pornographic.” I defended the teenwire website, and should I not be allowed to do that? Were my arguments making too much sense, and was the moderator uncomfortable in that he/she was starting to be convinced that maybe something that Planned Parenthood does isn’t necessarily Satanic? If some unstated line was crossed, then the thread maybe could have been locked, and the moderator could have left a short post explaining why. Deleting the entire thread, with its lot of well-thought-out posts created by users who spent a lot of their own time doing so, really accomplishes nothing and negates the idea that this forum is really a “forum” where ideas can be discussed and argued and considered. Plannedparenthood has a satanic agenda, and it is very sad that people are so mislead as to not realise it:crying: Anytime you encourage mortal sin as well as behavior that can and will mentally and emotionally hurt you and even physically,it is not harmless, productive or useful.God Bless

I don’t think Planned Parenthood are satan worshippers. Maybe there are some somewhere who are, but a person doesn’t have to be a satan-worshipper to be evil. All it takes is a denial of Christ’s love and mercy.

I don’t think the thread should’ve been deleted either, and as much as I disagree with much of what you say, I don’t want to see you leave. The threads are overcensored here, that’s for sure. While they delete all the negative arguments, they also eliminate all the positive ones, which overwhelm the negative ones here. I don’t think they fully understand the nature of forums. If content is questinoable, I can understand locking the thread, or erasing a post or two and suspending posters, but to remove the thread entirely and erase the insight of people who want to help others is not a wise decision. But then again, they’re not my forums.

In complete agreeement on these points. There WERE posts supporting some outrageous positions… But I think it’s helpful to see others refute those arguments, and I think that was done in many cases very effectively. Sometimes the best way to change minds and open eyes and hearts is to have a good ol’ wresting match with all aspects of an issue. I didn’t personally view the apparently offensive “Billy” post, but think it is unfortunate that a more limited response by the moderators wasn’t pursued.

:hmmm: I thought it was forbidden to discuss the resasoning of Management’s actions in deleting or ending a thread? Rules, people, rules…let us not forget!

I’ve objected a number of times and no one’s said anything to me. I don’t see the point in thought-policing these boards. I don’t get the moderators. I and others try our best to respond to posts with Christian charity and wisdom as we know it, but mods don’t want to let our arguments speak for themselves. They do greater harm eliminating the threads.

WHAT IF someone posts a pro-planned parenthood post, another person reads it and signs off. While their away, someone else posts a wonderfully enlightening post (as I’ve seen others do) to completely refute the argument. Then the moderator deletes the thread for the sake of the PPFA post without explanation. Then the person who signed off comes back hoping someone would’ve provided a rebuttal. Alas, the thread is gone, and that person is none the wiser. In addition, it is a collossal waste of our time to refute these arguments, only to have our rebuttals booted, along with the offensive material. It’s incredibly unfortunate. MOREOVER, the ones of us who posted in the thread are left scratching our noggins totally oblivious and pondering whether it was our posts that killed the thread. I staunchly disagree with thread deletion. It’s insulting that someone here decides to think for everyone, counterproductive, and disheartening. But like I always say, it’s their forum, not mine. But we are AT LEAST due an announcement and explanation on thread deletions. These are public forums, you can’t erase something that was public and expect people not to notice or care that their heartfelt responses were so quickly thrown to the wind.

I love these forums, but this Moral Theology forum is exceptionally frustrating. I think the theory is “protect the teens, protect the teens,” but I wonder if they really know who a teen is? 10 years ago, I was going on 15 years old, and if I would’ve come to a site like this and seen thoughts on teen stuff censored, I would’ve been offended and gone elsewhere for answers. Why send them away when the arguments are so CONVINCING and BENEFICIAL here. We are warm and loving. Much wisdom is to be shared. If I were an evil and loathsome person, I would come here and post offensive thoughts on charitable and beneficial threads, because it is a weapon against wisdom here. Corrupt the charitable thread with a vile post and the thread goes away, along with its charity.

If this happens again to a thread I’ve responded to, I’m going to stop providing my perspective on this particular board because the threads I respond to end up being deleted anyway, so what’s the point? Now I’m going to bed so I can get some rest before the March for Life tomorrow. Everyone have a blessed night and keep us marchers in your prayers as we do battle with evil.
