Texas** Law Challenged After Man Allegedly Forces Daughters to Watch ‘Hardcore Porn’**

DALLAS — A 1970s-era Texas law that allows parents to show “harmful material” to their children has come under fire after a prosecutor said he couldn’t file charges against a man accused of forcing his 8- and 9-year-old daughters to watch hardcore online pornography.

Randall County District Attorney James Farren has asked the Texas attorney general’s office to review his decision not to pursue charges in the case, which has prompted at least one lawmaker to vow to change the state’s public indecency law.

“Our hands are tied. It’s not our fault. I have to follow the law,” Farren said Thursday. "The mother of the victims in this case was less than happy with this decision, which I understand. We were less than happy with the statute."
The law apparently was meant to protect the privacy of parents who wanted to teach children about sex education, but it states clearly that parents can’t be prosecuted for showing “harmful material” to their children…

Terrible!
This mom has to let the “father” unsupervised contact with her daughters! Personally, I would go to jail before I let this “man” near my children.

Its an imperfect world. The dilema this mother faces is that if she goes to jail or defies the courts, the father will have the children 24/7 and she would be the one with supervised visits.

I agree the law is the law and she needs to tread carefully, but just because a law is in place now doesn’t mean everyone needs to be apathetic.
Keep lobbying for a change, that’s what I say!

Also, there must be federal statutes on showing porn to children. She needs a better lawyer.

Hopefully CHS will look into this but until they change the law what can they do.

What kind of man would do this surly this is a form of sexual abuse I don’t understand why CHS can’t investigate this and only have supervised visits with this so-called father.

How can this NOT be considered a form of child molestation or abuse?

I can’t find the Yahoo news article right now, but they were saying that at this point the man can only see his daughters under supervision. So they are taking steps to protect the girls. The law obviously needs to be changed here.

Thank you,

That’s great news.

You know I don’t care what two consenting adults do that’s between them and God but when it comes to kids; scumbags like that so-called father need to be in prison.
