The 5 Love Languages

Posted on another thread:

Many people can’t even express what they want because they don’t know what they want, they only know they are unhappy. The five languages are:

  1. Words of affirmation
  2. Quality time
  3. Receiving gifts
  4. Acts of service
  5. Physical touch

People are complex and some will have two or three combined that “work” for them.

I honestly can’t figure mine out. I read the book and have it on tape. I know my language is NOT touch and I don’t think it’s receiving gifts. Could I really be a combo of the other 3? —KCT

Did you complete the profile in the back of the book?

That should help. And yes, you can be a comb. of a few - my primary only scored one point higher than my secondary love language when I took the profile, and my secondary was a 2-way tie. All very fitting to who I am.

Sorry, I can’t help you decide which one is you, but you can have “dual” languages.

I’m a quality time/acts of service person. He’s a words of affirmation/physical touch person.

I found this book very interesting. I never really thought about someone perceiving love differently than how I perceived it. We tend to give love as we want to receive - and not how others are needing love actions.

I highly recommend this book for couples in new and not-so-new relationships.

There is also a book for children, too. I haven’t read that one, though.

Good luck - and take the test

Read Love and Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. He talks about some of the same stuff, like that we give love the way we want to receive it, etc. I liked it alot better, although I like the 5 love language book too. But I was like you, didn’t really fit into one category. I was kind of like, yeah, i want that, that & that! Everything but sex! ha! just kidding… Anyway, I am recommending this book everywhere, I’m sure you’ve seen my post somewhere else. I can’t help it. I want every married couple to read it. It is awesome.

where is this test? But none of us can decide for you. It is a personal thing you need to find yourself. Sorry
