So I’ve been wondering. I know that some Catholics move the Ascension to the following Sunday. What about Protestants? Do any of our non-Catholic brethren celebrate it on that Sunday, or do you all observe it on the traditional date?
Since this major festival falls on a weekday, Lutherans are encouraged to celebrate the feast on Sunday, as well. It is too important to not extend the glory of Christ’s Ascension. Understand in some European countries [Germany, Denmark, Finland, France etc,] Ascension is a public holiday. I think the Holy See will promote the Solemnity of the Ascension [Sundays] for all Christians.
