The Editors: It is time for the Kavanaugh nomination to be withdrawn

#1

Editors of America rescind endorsement of Kavanaugh.

#2

America Magazine editors call for Kavanaugh’s nomination to be withdrawn because it has now become controversially tied to sexual assault. What a joke.

#3

Sure, withdraw his nomination and every Republcan nominee in the future will face allegations such as these.

Let the bullies dictate your actions and you will end up doing exactly what they want all the time.

#4

The editors have abandoned " Anyone who recognizes the humanity of the unborn should support the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh." which is what they said when he was endorsed by them. It seems the editors think baseless allegations with Zero Evidence carries more weight than recognizing the humanity of the unborn. Sad.

#5

There are many other judges who can carry the pro-life agenda forward And do it without this cloud over their head.

#6

The fate of the unborn is not at stake here. Trump has plenty of time to nominate a pro-life judge without a record like Kavanaugh’s. At this point it is more about the good of the country than giving Kavanaugh (another) job for life. People need to have confidence in their institutions, such as the Supreme Court, otherwise we will not persist as a nation. If people feel Kavanugh is tainted, then he is tainted, whether he actually did the things claimed or not. If he loves his country more than himself he will withdraw his own name.

#7

Even the American Bar Association has said the vote should be delayed for more investigation. And they originally supported him.

#8

Do you think Clarence Thomas was tainted?

#9

They were are all teenagers who likely went to a party before graduating from college.

They can find someone to slander any nominee, facts not required.

If needed someone will attest to bad behavior or perhaps even bed wetting when they were younger.

#10

Confidence is shattered by the “guilty until you prove you are innocent”/baseless allegations are enough to destroy someones good name and reputation mentality. Nobody who says they don’t have confidence in the SCOTUS because of Kavanaugh being a member was ever going to like him being there to begin with.

#11

Quit while you are ahead - Oh, excuse me you are not ahead, you lost.

Jeff Flake voting to confirm Kavanaugh

What I do know is that our system of justice affords a presumption of innocence to the accused, absent corroborating evidence. That is what binds us to the rule of law. While some may argue that a different standard should apply regarding the Senate’s advice and consent responsibilities, I believe that the constitution’s provisions of fairness and due process apply here as well," he continued. "I will vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh.”

The Democrats are going to put a cloud over every one that’s ever put forward. I don’t think their dirt should be rewarded.

#14

Fact were brought forth; they are required

#15

It is objectively wrong to dismiss the allegations as baseless.

#16

What cloud exists over Gorsuch?

#17

“going to” indicates “future tense” meaning it will or is planned to happen in the Future. Gorsuch has already “been put forward” and confirmed. Gorsuch is in the Past in this regard. This is not a difficult concept to grasp.

#18

The prediction made about the future wither does or does not have reasonable basis in fact.
Extrapolation from one example is generally recognized as unsound. And an attempt to extrapolate from the last two undercuts the prediction. This is not a difficult concept to grasp.

#20

glad to see you now realize it was indeed about the future. If you want to learn more about “future tense” maybe this will help you gain a deeper understanding.

So that it what this has come to? Denigrating the witness for her appearance?
