The Glass Menagerie

Today, I saw a film version of the play. It starred Kirk Douglas, and Jane Wyman.

Would anyone remember if it was faithful to the play? The ending seemed too “happy” but I don’t remember it having a happy ending when I read it in high-school.

Kirk Douglas and Jane Wyman were really good in it.

I haven’t seen the film, but the last sentence of the plot synopsis on Wikipedia says:

“Seemingly free of her limp and brimming with self-confidence, Laura awaits a visit from another “gentleman caller” in an upbeat ending that deviates from the play.”

Sounds as though your recollection is correct.
