The Jews and the covenant


There has been a lot of discussion on the topic of the Jews and their (not) having a valid covenant with God etc, especially Bob Sungenis has written about it, and it seems to be the clear teaching of the Bible and the Church at least traditionally that the Jews have no valid covenant with God now in the time of the new covenant. But today in Zenit’s news there was a quote of the Church’s new Easter liturgy:

The Roman Missal adopted by Pope Paul VI in 1969, and put into effect in 1970, reformulated the prayer. It reads: "Let us pray for the Jewish people, the first to hear the word of God, that they may continue to grow in the love of his name and in faithfulness to his covenant.

This surely sounds heretical. Any comments?
