"The Pagan Christ"

#1

A Muslim friend of mine recently emailed me, apparently after reading the new book The Pagan Christ, claiming that this book demonstrates that the Trinity, and Christ, is a borrowed Pagan concept. Does anyone know of any good responses to this book? (Perhaps another book, or an online article).

what do you mean by “…Christ is a borrowed Pagan concept”?
the koran says that Jusus was a good man and a prophet.

No, I think he meant more the concept of the divinity of Christ and the Trinity. I pointed out to him that the Early Fathers, and the New Testament, clearly affirm the Divinity of Christ, and that sound scholarship assures us that there is no way that this is due to Roman tampering; however, I am looking for material that specifically addresses this book if anyone is aware of any.

Thanks.

You can read 24 reviews of the book here: amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/0887621457/ref=cm_cr_dp_2_1/104-6142740-2183114?%5Fencoding=UTF8&customer-reviews.sort%5Fby=-SubmissionDate&n=283155Most of the reviews made me choke. It’s not a book that would interest me in the least. I had a sense from the reviews that the book supported views that the reviewers already held. It gave them a warm fuzzy. There was at least one exception to this.

Thanks.

Does anyone know of any books answering the charges of this book specifically?

I do not know this book and considering the content after reading the reviews, I would not bother to read it. I do not know of any publication that rebuts this book, however, amongst the reviews there is a very good rebuttal that might be worth a look.

I found this interesting. It’s an article from a Southern Baptist apologist.

Also, check out the author of the books website. Pay particular attention to the “articles” and “vision statement” sections of the site.

In nomine Jesu I offer you peace John,

This is the very reason why we need to get past the divisions in our Christian Brotherhood and start pooling our resources against this return to Paganism that is all the rage and how atheists, Muslims and Pagans/Gnostics appear to be pooling their resources in fighting the truth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

PS: I hope I’m not coming across too strong. Great link BTW.

Peace, Love and Blessings,

Peace be with you as well Chris,

Yes, I too agree that we sometimes get ourselves too worked up over the nuances that permeate throughout the various Christian denominations. I for one am most thankful that one of our Southern Baptist friends took the time and energy required to write such a rebuttal.

God Bless,
John
