The QAnon movement

I don’t know what people’s views are on this, but I wanted to highlight this since it seems to be growing and brainwashing a lot of Christians and young people, and actually doing a lot of harm to some people and families.

What is QAnon?

QAnon is a far right-wing, loosely organized network and community of believers who embrace a range of unsubstantiated beliefs. These views center around the idea that a cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles—mainly consisting of what they see as elitist Democrats, politicians, journalists, entertainment moguls and other institutional figures—have long controlled much of the so-called “deep state” government, which they say seeks to undermine President Trump, mostly with aid of media and entertainment outlets.

I live in the UK, and the movement is also growing here and here are two articles that go into detail about the seriousness of its influence and spread:

So really this is just to say to people to keep vigilant with concerns to this growing movement.

I had no idea these nut jobs has crossed over to the UK.

It’s an indictment of our education system and people’s gullibility. It’s SAD.

Sounds like another variation on the New World Order, Illuminati, and Masonic conspiracies.

So how many groups should we fear now? I’m starting to lose count.

Just Heterdox and Herectical Catholics and pro-abortion politicians that hate men, want to destroy the family and push their ideological nonsense…

There’s a sucker born every minute, I reckon.

From what I’ve read this stuff is on the order of Pizzagate.

My response to it is, you can’t fix stupid.

Pizzagate is no joke those Lizard People make a mean triple pepperoni pizza… They got beer on tap and a pizza oven in the back of a pick up truck…

A few years ago, my husband and I went to Comet Ping Pong pizza parlor to show support after some nut drove there to shoot up the restaurant. We also went because they have good pizza there although it’s more than i like to pay for pizza.

Pizza was great, service was terrible, and unfortunately it was the day of the Women’s March so the place was awash in P hats. We enjoyed our pizza anyway.

More or less, this kind of idiocy is always going to find ready buyers sadly - it’s a seller’s market.

Thank god you posted this. My mom is super catholic but has lived a hard life and is prone to conspiratorial thinking. Luckily I can pull her back to reality with patience and love.
But yes this is really ruining families. There’s a whole subreddit called “ qanon casualties”

I was public school educated and attended a private catholic college And while philosophy was super painful- I’m super thankful I took it.

If philosophy was required learning for graduating high school perhaps we would all be better at critical thinking, and better at arguing without ripping each other’s jugulars with stupid straw men.

Sad that people fall for this stuff.

I often think it is likely some kind of mental disorder that has not yet been identified by science.

My husband and I were both baffled that anyone would spend more than a passing five minutes even thinking about such conspiracy stuff. Sure, there’s a possibility that some wealthy or well-connected person has a big skeleton in the closet, and there’s even a significant likelihood that some cities or towns had connected networks of people all involved in some concerted criminal activity like child sexual abuse (we see that in some of our own dioceses sadly) but these conspiracy heads always take it too far and it’s like they enjoy the complexity of building the big picture in their head. Anybody else would just say, “Yeah some political people/ rich people/ etc are perverts, sick world isn’t it” and go back to what they were doing.

This Q stuff is mind numbling stupid.

its not big here, just sounds like another nutty secular group trying for 15 minutes of fame. I would be very careful in accusing this group of what you have .
Pizza gate whatever that is, probably something to do with having pineapple on your pizza along side anchovies, sounds much more dangerous.

Facebook thinks Trent Horn is involved with it. Trent Horn is surprised to find out he’s involved with it.

Further information here:

“QAnon” is just vague predictions and supposed insider information from someone or a group of people who say they work at some level of government. It’s not secretive. All of this “information” and predictions are easily available on one website. At it’s worst it’s just made up and a waste of time, I don’t understand the hype surrounding it now in the media.

We have them here too, they “help” spread coronavirus. Unfortunately not banned yet.
Some politicians and scientists promote QAnon here.
