The Word of God is not a mere text

…a great article by Msgr. Charles Pope: blog.adw.org/2013/11/the-word-of-god-is-not-a-mere-text-he-is-a-person-a-meditation-on-the-personal-relationship-we-must-have-with-the-word/.

It’s so true. The Word of God is Jesus–God’s last revelation to man. The Bible is God’s written word that cannot be understood apart from either Christ or his Church.

I love Monsignor Pope. What he says is entirely clear to anyone who has encountered Jesus Christ, not only in others, but particularly in the Holy Eucharist during mass, or at adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. He is alive, and cannot be confined between the covers of a bible - no matter how finely printed or lavishly bound. And, the good Monsignor quotes the finest living theologian in the world to ably demonstrate his point.

This is an excellent reflection. Thanks for posting it here.
